Is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Right For You?

Is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Right For You?

Often I am asked, is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party worth it? For my family, it would be easy to answer YES, you can read more about that here. I do however understand it is an extra expense that for some families may not really be worth the expense. Each family is going to be different and I want to best help you answer that question for your family.

I have put together this list of questions to help you decide what is right for you!
1. Park Days. How many days are you planning to go to the parks and which park are you planning for that day?
  • If you will not be attending the party and you are planning the Magic Kingdom on a party day then your day will be cut short without the tickets.
  • If you will be attending the party and planning to be at another park you will want to cut that park short to be able to go to the party. The party starts at 7:00.
2. The party ends at midnight. To take full advantage I would definitely recommend staying until midnight. With that being said I would take into consideration your families dynamic and limitations. Families with small children with usually early bedtimes may want to consider how the late-night will affect the rest of the vacation. For some families, this may not be a problem. While Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a blast, I can’t say how much fun it will be with a cranky child. Also, consider your next day’s plans if you do decide to take full advantage and stay out that late. If possible try not to plan any early dining or fast passes for the next day.
3. What are your expectations for the night? Mickey’s Not So Scary has plenty to offer, but it is important to prioritize your night to get the absolute most out of it.  I typically give my kids the following list have them rate them by importance to them and we go from there.
  • Rare Characters (Many rare characters are out for the parties like villains, seven dwarfs, and Jack and Sally etc.)
  • Candy (The amount of candy given is quite generous but if candy is the main thing you are after I would say that you may want to rethink your list. Afterall that’s a lot of money to spend on just candy.)
  • Shows (the different stage shows, dance parties, Boo to You Parade, fireworks, etc.)
  • Rides (typically ride lines for the parties are much shorter than normal hours)
  • Snacks (some people want to go just for the special snacks and merchandise that are sold only during party nights.)

Mickey's Not So scary Halloween Party Candy

* If you decide to forgo the Halloween party all together do keep in mind that the Magic Kingdom will close early on those select days. The traditional fireworks and the night time parade will not take place so plan accordingly. On the other side of that if you do decide to take part in the Halloween party but are really wanting to see the traditional fireworks and parade, you may want to plan another Magic Kingdom day on a completely different day because they will only be showing the special Halloween fireworks show and parade (always a must-see on my list).
* As you can tell this can all be a bit overwhelming but fear not. There are many options for making the most out of your Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. When you book your package with me I will put together a packet with all the information you will need to make the most out of your magical night. I will also give you my recommendations on a schedule based on what your goals are. Hope to hear from you soon.
